Transformation of Sentences-এর পরিচিতি
Introduction to Transformation of Sentences
Transformation of Sentences বলতে বাক্যের মূল অর্থ অপরিবর্তিত রেখে তার গঠন বা ধরন পরিবর্তন করাকে বোঝায়। এই অধ্যায়ে প্রধানত Voice Change, Affirmative ও Negative, Degree, Simple-Complex-Compound এবং Assertive-Interrogative-Exclamatory রূপান্তরের নিয়ম আলোচনা করা হয়।

রূপান্তরের সময় তিনটি বিষয় সবসময় লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে—মূল অর্থ যেন না বদলায়, Tense যেন অযথা পরিবর্তিত না হয় এবং প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী Subject, Object, Auxiliary Verb, Relative Pronoun বা Conjunction-এর অবস্থান ঠিক রাখতে হবে।
Voice Change-এর ধারণা
Active and Passive Voice
Active Voice-এ Subject নিজে কাজটি সম্পন্ন করে।
Example: I write a letter.

Passive Voice-এ Subject কাজটি নিজে না করে কাজের ফল গ্রহণ করে। Active Voice-এর Object সাধারণত Passive Voice-এর Subject হয়।
Example: A letter is written by me.

Voice পরিবর্তনের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নিয়ম হলো Tense অক্ষুণ্ণ রাখা এবং মূল Verb-কে Past Participle form-এ নেওয়া।
Active থেকে Passive করার মূল নিয়ম
Basic Rule of Voice Change
Active Voice-এর Object-কে Passive Voice-এর Subject করা হয়। এরপর Tense অনুযায়ী প্রয়োজনীয় Auxiliary Verb বসে এবং Main Verb-এর Past Participle form ব্যবহৃত হয়। শেষে প্রয়োজন হলে by বা উপযুক্ত Preposition-এর পরে Active Voice-এর Subject-এর objective form বসে।

সাধারণ কাঠামো:
Active: Subject + Verb + Object
Passive: Object + Auxiliary Verb + Past Participle + Appropriate Preposition + Agent

Example: She writes a letter.
Passive: A letter is written by her.
Tense অনুযায়ী Active-Passive Structure

Present Indefinite
Active: Subject + base/present verb + Object
Passive: Object + am/is/are + Past Participle + by + Agent
Example: I eat rice.
Passive: Rice is eaten by me.

Present Continuous
Passive-এ am/is/are being + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: She is writing a letter.
Passive: A letter is being written by her.

Present Perfect
Passive-এ have/has been + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I have eaten rice.
Passive: Rice has been eaten by me.

Past Indefinite
Passive-এ was/were + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I ate rice.
Passive: Rice was eaten by me.
Past Continuous
Passive-এ was/were being + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I was eating rice.
Passive: Rice was being eaten by me.

Past Perfect
Passive-এ had been + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I had eaten rice.
Passive: Rice had been eaten by me.

Future Indefinite
Passive-এ shall be/will be + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I shall eat rice.
Passive: Rice will be eaten by me.

Future Perfect
Passive-এ shall have been/will have been + Past Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I shall have eaten rice.
Passive: Rice will have been eaten by me.
Modal Auxiliary-এর Passive
Passive with Modal Auxiliaries
can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would, ought to, used to ইত্যাদি Modal Auxiliary-এর Passive করতে Modal অপরিবর্তিত থাকে এবং তার পরে be + Past Participle বসে।

Example: I can do it.
Passive: It can be done by me.

Example: I may love him.
Passive: He may be loved by me.

Example: You ought to call him.
Passive: He ought to be called by you.

be going to structure-এ Passive করতে going to অপরিবর্তিত রেখে তার পরে be + Past Participle বসে।
Example: He is going to open a shop.
Passive: A shop is going to be opened by him.
Passive-এ বিশেষ Preposition
Appropriate Prepositions in Passive Voice
সব Passive বাক্যে Agent-এর আগে by বসে না। কিছু Verb নির্দিষ্ট Preposition গ্রহণ করে।

with ব্যবহৃত হয়: satisfied, pleased, disgusted, bothered, annoyed, seized ইত্যাদির সঙ্গে।
Example: Everybody was satisfied with him.

at ব্যবহৃত হয়: surprised, wondered, astonished, amazed, alarmed, shocked, disappointed ইত্যাদির সঙ্গে।
Example: You will be shocked at the news.

in ব্যবহৃত হয়: contained, embodied, interested ইত্যাদির সঙ্গে।
to ব্যবহৃত হয়: known-এর সঙ্গে।
Example: He is known to me.

about ব্যবহৃত হয়: worried-এর সঙ্গে।
Double Object-এর Passive
Passive of Sentences with Two Objects
কোনো Active Sentence-এ দুটি Object থাকলে যেকোনো একটি Object-কে Passive-এর Subject করা যায়। তবে ব্যক্তি নির্দেশক Object-কে Subject করলে বাক্যটি সাধারণত বেশি স্বাভাবিক হয়।

Active: I gave him a book.
Passive: He was given a book by me.
Passive: A book was given to him by me.
Reflexive Pronoun ও অনির্দিষ্ট Agent
Reflexive Object and Indefinite Agent
Object যদি Reflexive Pronoun হয়, Voice পরিবর্তনের সময় অনেক ক্ষেত্রে Reflexive Pronoun তার অর্থগত অবস্থান বজায় রাখে।

Active: He killed himself.
Passive: He was killed by himself.

Subject যদি people, one, someone, somebody, everybody ইত্যাদি অনির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বোঝায়, Passive-এ by + Agent সাধারণত বাদ দেওয়া হয়।
Active: People always remember the patriots.
Passive: The patriots are always remembered.

Passive বাক্যে Agent উল্লেখ না থাকলে Active করার সময় অর্থ অনুযায়ী someone, somebody, people, one বা the authority ইত্যাদি Subject ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Wh-question-এর Passive
Passive of Interrogative Sentences
Who দিয়ে প্রশ্ন শুরু হলে Passive-এ সাধারণত By whom ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Active: Who has broken the glass?
Passive: By whom has the glass been broken?

Active: Who will do the work?
Passive: By whom will the work be done?

Whom থাকলে Passive-এ Object Subject হয়ে যায় এবং Wh-word হিসেবে Who থাকতে পারে।
Active: Whom do you want?
Passive: Who is wanted by you?

Where, when, why, what ইত্যাদি Wh-word সাধারণত অপরিবর্তিত থাকে।
Active: Where did you see him?
Passive: Where was he seen by you?
Imperative Sentence-এর Passive
Passive Structure of Imperative Sentences
মূল Verb দিয়ে শুরু Imperative Sentence-এর Passive সাধারণত Let + Object + be + Past Participle দিয়ে গঠিত হয়।
Active: Do the work.
Passive: Let the work be done.

Do not যুক্ত Imperative-এর Passive:
Let not + Object + be + Past Participle
Active: Do not shut the door.
Passive: Let not the door be shut.

Never যুক্ত Imperative-এর Passive-এ never-এর অর্থ বজায় রাখতে Let not ... ever বা Let ... never ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Active: Never tell a lie.
Passive: Let not a lie ever be told.

Phrasal Verb-এর Preposition Passive-এও Verb-এর সঙ্গে থাকে।
Active: Take care of your health.
Passive: Let your health be taken care of.
Affirmative থেকে Negative
Transformation between Affirmative and Negative
১। Only/Alone
ব্যক্তি বোঝালে none but, বস্তু বোঝালে nothing but এবং সংখ্যা বোঝালে not more than/not less than ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Example: Only God is Almighty.
Negative: None but God is Almighty.

২। Must
must-এর ভাব Negative-এ cannot but বা cannot help + verb-ing দিয়ে প্রকাশ করা যায়।
Example: I must do it.
Negative: I cannot but do it.

৩। Always
Negative করতে never + opposite word ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Example: She always remembers you.
Negative: She never forgets you.

৪। Had to
had to-এর অর্থ Negative-এ could not but বা could not help + verb-ing দিয়ে প্রকাশ করা যায়।
৫। Every
Every + noun-এর ভাব Negative-এ There is no ... who does not বা There is no ... but দিয়ে প্রকাশ করা যায়।
Example: Every mother loves her child.
Negative: There is no mother who does not love her child.

৬। Both ... and
Negative রূপে not only ... but also ব্যবহার করা যায়।

৭। Less ... than
Negative করতে not as ... as ব্যবহার করা হয়।

৮। Opposite word
Adjective বা Verb-এর বিপরীত অর্থ ব্যবহার করে not বসিয়ে অর্থ অপরিবর্তিত রাখা যায়।
Example: He is honest.
Negative: He is not dishonest.

৯। Superlative
No other + noun + verb + so/as + positive adjective + as দিয়ে Negative রূপ তৈরি হয়।

১০। Too ... to
so ... that + cannot/could not দিয়ে Negative করা যায়।
Example: The woman is too weak to work.
Negative: The woman is so weak that she cannot work.

১১। Sometimes
not always দিয়ে Negative অর্থ প্রকাশ করা যায়।

১২। As ... as
not less ... than ব্যবহার করে অর্থ বজায় রাখা যায়।

১৩। As soon as
Negative রূপে No sooner had ... than ব্যবহৃত হয়।

১৪। Many
not a few দিয়ে অর্থ প্রকাশ করা যায়।

১৫। A few / Much / A little
a few-এর বিপরীতে not many, much-এর বিপরীতে not a little এবং a little-এর বিপরীতে not much ব্যবহার করা যায়—প্রসঙ্গ অনুযায়ী অর্থ মিলিয়ে নিতে হবে।
Degree of Comparison-এর পরিচিতি
Positive, Comparative and Superlative Degree
Adjective-এর সাহায্যে ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর গুণের তুলনা প্রকাশকে Degree of Comparison বলা হয়। এর তিনটি প্রধান রূপ হলো Positive, Comparative এবং Superlative।

Positive Degree সাধারণ গুণ প্রকাশ করে।
Example: Shamim is a good player.

Comparative Degree সাধারণত দুই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর তুলনা করে।
Example: Shamim is better than Karim.

Superlative Degree অনেকের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ গুণ প্রকাশ করে।
Example: Shamim is the best player in the team.

কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রূপ:
Strong — stronger — strongest
Great — greater — greatest
Old — older/elder — oldest/eldest
Small — smaller — smallest
Weak — weaker — weakest
Hot — hotter — hottest
Big — bigger — biggest
Large — larger — largest
Wise — wiser — wisest
Easy — easier — easiest
Beautiful — more beautiful — most beautiful
Intelligent — more intelligent — most intelligent
Good/well — better — best
Bad — worse — worst
Many/much — more — most
Little — less — least
Far — farther/further — farthest/furthest
Superlative থেকে Positive
Superlative to Positive
একজন বা একটি বস্তু সর্বোচ্চ হলে Superlative-কে Positive করতে সাধারণত No other + noun + verb + as/so + positive adjective + as + subject ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Superlative: Rony is the smallest player in the team.
Positive: No other player in the team is as small as Rony.

One of the যুক্ত Superlative হলে Positive-এ Very few + plural noun + plural verb + as/so + positive adjective + as + subject ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Superlative: He is one of the best players in the team.
Positive: Very few players in the team are as good as he.
Comparative থেকে Positive
Comparative to Positive
than যুক্ত Comparative বাক্যে সাধারণত Object-কে Positive বাক্যের Subject করে not so/as ... as structure ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Comparative: Jamal is bigger than Kamal.
Positive: Kamal is not as big as Jamal.

than any other/all other যুক্ত Comparative হলে No other ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Comparative: Dhaka is larger than any other city in Bangladesh.
Positive: No other city in Bangladesh is as large as Dhaka.

than most other/few other যুক্ত Comparative হলে Very few দিয়ে Positive করা হয়।

no less/not less ... than থাকলে Positive-এ as ... as ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Superlative থেকে Comparative
Superlative to Comparative
সাধারণ Superlative থেকে Comparative করতে comparative adjective + than any other + singular noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Superlative: He is the best player in the team.
Comparative: He is better than any other player in the team.

all বা all boys জাতীয় ভাব থাকলে than all other + plural noun ব্যবহার করা যায়।

one of the যুক্ত Superlative হলে Comparative-এ comparative adjective + than most other + plural noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Superlative: Kibria is one of the best players in the team.
Comparative: Kibria is better than most other players in the team.
Positive থেকে Comparative
Positive to Comparative
No other যুক্ত Positive বাক্যকে Comparative করতে Subject সামনে এনে adjective-এর Comparative form + than any other + singular noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Positive: No other player in the team is as good as he.
Comparative: He is better than any other player in the team.

Very few যুক্ত Positive বাক্যকে Comparative করতে subject + comparative adjective + than most other + plural noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Comparative থেকে Superlative
Comparative to Superlative
than any other যুক্ত Comparative-কে Superlative করতে subject + verb + the + superlative adjective + noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Comparative: He is better than any other player in the team.
Superlative: He is the best player in the team.

than most other বা than few other যুক্ত Comparative-কে Superlative করতে one of the + superlative adjective + plural noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Comparative: Dhaka is bigger than most other cities in Bangladesh.
Superlative: Dhaka is one of the biggest cities in Bangladesh.
Positive থেকে Superlative
Positive to Superlative
No other যুক্ত Positive থেকে Superlative করতে Subject সামনে এনে the + adjective-এর Superlative form ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Positive: No other player in the team is as good as Sakib.
Superlative: Sakib is the best player in the team.

Very few যুক্ত Positive থেকে Superlative করতে one of the + superlative adjective + plural noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Positive: Very few men in the village are as tall as Shamim.
Superlative: Shamim is one of the tallest men in the village.
Simple থেকে Complex
Simple to Complex
১। Present Participle
Simple Sentence-এর শুরুতে Present Participle থাকলে কারণ বা সময় অনুযায়ী since/as/when দিয়ে Complex করা যায়।
Simple: Going to market, Ritu bought a new dress.
Complex: When Ritu went to market, she bought a new dress.

২। Being/Having
Participle phrase-এ being বা having থাকলে Complex-এ tense অনুযায়ী am/is/are, was/were, have/has/had ব্যবহার করা হয়।

৩। Because of
Because of-এর পরিবর্তে since/as ব্যবহার করে clause তৈরি করা হয়।
Simple: Because of his being guilty, he was punished.
Complex: Since he was guilty, he was punished.

৪। Because of + Abstract Noun
Abstract Noun-কে adjective বা clause-এ রূপান্তর করা হয়।
Simple: Because of his honesty, everyone loves him.
Complex: Since he is honest, everyone loves him.

৫। Too ... to
Complex করতে so ... that + cannot/could not ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Simple: The sum is too difficult for me to solve.
Complex: The sum is so difficult that I cannot solve it.

৬। In order to / to
Complex-এ so that + can/could ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Simple: We read books to acquire knowledge.
Complex: We read books so that we can acquire knowledge.

৭। In spite of / despite
Complex-এ though/although ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Simple: In spite of his poverty, he lives honestly.
Complex: Though he is poor, he lives honestly.

৮। Without + Gerund
Complex-এ if + negative clause ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Simple: Without working hard, you cannot pass.
Complex: If you do not work hard, you cannot pass.

৯। By + Gerund
Complex-এ if + affirmative clause ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Simple: By working hard, you can pass.
Complex: If you work hard, you can pass.

১০। Present Participle after Subject
Relative Pronoun ব্যবহার করে adjective clause তৈরি করা হয়।
Simple: The girl singing in the class is my sister.
Complex: The girl who is singing in the class is my sister.

১১। Adjective + Noun
Adjective-কে relative clause-এ রূপান্তর করা যায়।
Simple: I saw a barefooted man.
Complex: I saw a man who was barefooted.

১২। Object + Present Participle
Relative clause বা when-clause ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Simple: I saw a baby crying.
Complex: I saw a baby that was crying.
Complex থ??কে Compound
Complex to Compound
১। Since/As/When
Subordinate conjunction বাদ দিয়ে দুটি clause-কে and দিয়ে যুক্ত করা হয়।
Complex: When the boy saw his father, he ran away.
Compound: The boy saw his father and ran away.

২। ভিন্ন Subject হলে
প্রথম clause অপরিবর্তিত রেখে and দিয়ে Principal Clause যুক্ত করা হয়।

৩। Though/Although
Compound-এ but ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Complex: Though he was poor, he was honest.
Compound: He was poor but he was honest.

৪। If + Affirmative
Imperative + and + clause structure ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Complex: If you work hard, you will shine in life.
Compound: Work hard and you will shine in life.

৫। If + Negative
Imperative + or + clause structure ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Complex: If you do not read attentively, you will fail.
Compound: Read attentively or you will fail.

৬। So ... that
প্রথম clause-এ very ব্যবহার করে এবং দ্বিতীয় clause and দিয়ে যুক্ত করা যায়।
Complex: The man is so weak that he cannot walk.
Compound: The man is very weak and he cannot walk.

৭। So that
উদ্দেশ্যকে want to/wanted to দিয়ে প্রকাশ করে and দিয়ে clause যুক্ত করা যায়।

৮। Relative Pronoun
Relative Pronoun বাদ দিয়ে প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী and ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Compound থেকে Simple
Compound to Simple
১। And যুক্ত একই Subject
প্রথম Verb-কে Verb + ing করে Present Participle phrase বানানো যায়।
Compound: The woman sold her hair and bought a gold chain.
Simple: Selling her hair, the woman bought a gold chain.

২। Be/Have Verb যুক্ত ভিন্ন Clause
প্রথম clause-এ being বা having ব্যবহার করে phrase বানানো যায়।
Compound: The function was over and the guests returned home.
Simple: The function being over, the guests returned home.

৩। Cause বোঝানো And
Because of + possessive + being/having বা gerund phrase ব্যবহার করা যায়।

৪। But
In spite of + possessive + being/having বা noun phrase ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Compound: He was ill but he attended the meeting.
Simple: In spite of his being ill, he attended the meeting.

৫। Or
Without + Verb-ing ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Compound: Work hard or you will fail.
Simple: Without working hard, you will fail.

৬। সময় নির্দেশক And
প্রথম clause-এর সময়বাচক অংশকে adverbial phrase-এ রূপান্তর করা যায়।
Assertive থেকে Interrogative
Assertive to Interrogative
Affirmative Assertive-কে Interrogative করলে সাধারণত Negative Interrogative হয় এবং Negative Assertive-কে Interrogative করলে Affirmative Interrogative হয়।

Example: Rony is a brilliant student.
Interrogative: Isn't Rony a brilliant student?

Auxiliary না থাকলে tense অনুযায়ী do, does বা did ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Example: Jitu likes swimming.
Interrogative: Doesn't Jitu like swimming?

Subject যদি everyone, everybody, all ইত্যাদি হয়, Interrogative-এ Who + negative auxiliary ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Example: Everybody likes an honest man.
Interrogative: Who doesn't like an honest man?

Subject যদি nobody, none, no one হয়, Interrogative-এ Who + affirmative auxiliary ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Example: Nobody trusts a liar.
Interrogative: Who trusts a liar?

never থাকলে Interrogative-এ ever এবং nothing থাকলে anything ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Assertive থেকে Exclamatory
Assertive to Exclamatory
Subject + Verb + very + Adjective/Adverb ধরনের Assertive Sentence-কে Exclamatory করতে How + Adjective/Adverb + Subject + Verb! ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Assertive: This car is very beautiful.
Exclamatory: How beautiful this car is!

Assertive বাক্যে a/an + adjective + noun থাকলে What + a/an + adjective + noun + subject + verb! ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Assertive: Football is an exciting game.
Exclamatory: What an exciting game football is!

Wish যুক্ত Assertive Sentence-এ আকাঙ্ক্ষার ভাব থাকলে Exclamatory-তে If বা Had দিয়ে রূপান্তর করা যায়।
Assertive: I wish I had been a king.
Exclamatory: If I had been a king!
Exclamatory থেকে Assertive
Exclamatory to Assertive
How + Adjective/Adverb যুক্ত Exclamatory Sentence-কে Assertive করতে Subject + Verb + very + Adjective/Adverb ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Exclamatory: How beautiful the village is!
Assertive: The village is very beautiful.

What + a/an + Adjective + Noun যুক্ত Exclamatory Sentence-কে Assertive করতে Subject + Verb + a/an + very/great + Adjective + Noun ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Exclamatory: What a happy life she leads!
Assertive: She leads a very happy life.

Exclamatory: What a fool he is!
Assertive: He is a great fool.

  2. “A letter is going to be written by me.”—এর Active form কোনটি?

  3. “He made me laugh.”—এর যথাযথ Passive form কোনটি?
    • I was made laugh by him.
    • I was made to laugh by him.
    • I was made laughing with him.
    • I was made laughing by him.
  4. “Panic seized me.”—এর সঠিক Passive form কোনটি?
    • I was seized by panic.
    • I was seized from panic.
    • I was seized with panic.
    • I was seized into panic.
  5. “He satisfied everybody.”—এর Passive form কোনটি?
    • Everybody has been satisfied by him.
    • Everybody was satisfied by him.
    • Everybody was satisfied with him.
    • Everybody would be satisfied at him.
  6. “Enter the house by this gate.”—এর যথাযথ Passive form কোনটি?
    • You are requested to enter the house by this gate.
    • You should enter the house by this gate.
    • Let the house be entered by this gate.

  9. “Panic seized me.”—এর সঠিক Passive form নির্বাচন করো।
    • I was seized by panic.
    • I was seized for panic.
    • I was seized from panic.
    • I was seized with panic.
  10. “I know you.”—এর যথার্থ Passive form কোনটি?
    • You are known by me.
    • You are known to me.
    • You are unknown by me.
    • You are known with me.
  11. “Buy me a pen.”—এর Passive form কোনটি?
    • Let me buy a pen.
    • Let a pen be bought for me.
    • Let a pen be bought by me.
    • Let me a pen be bought.
  12. “Let Rahim tell the truth.”—এর Passive form কোনটি?
    • Let the truth be told by him.
    • Let the truth be told by Rahim.
    • Let the truth is told by Rahim.
    • Let Rahim the truth be told.
